Frederick Webster Howe, born 28 August 1822, died 25 April 1891. He was apprenticed to the
Gay, Silver shop in North Chelmsford, Mass. Between 1847 and 1856, he and Richard Lawrence
jointly developed numerous innovations for Robbins & Lawrence in Windsor, Vt. He worked for
Simeon North, Middletown, Connecticut, for the Providence Tool Company's armory and did
several invention in machinery especially for Brown & Sharpe one of the leading machine
tool builders. Howe's patents were used on some Remington New Model Army Revolvers. |
